On December 15, 2025, Ford announced several updates to its electric vehicle (EV) roadmap, including adjustments to current production plans and the introduction of new electrified platforms. 1. Update on F-150 Lightning Production
Ford has discontinued production of the current model-year F-150 Lightning. Organizations evaluating this vehicle for near-term deployment may wish to explore alternative solutions while Ford advances the next phase of its electrification strategy.

2. Electrified options that remain available today
While the current Lightning program sunsets, Ford reaffirmed its commitment to electrification. Two all-electric models remain available for fleet deployment:
3. Ford’s future roadmap: Hybrids, EREVs & new EV platforms
Ford is shifting its long-term strategy toward a broader mix of hybrids, Extended Range EVs (EREVs), and next-generation EVs.
Key milestones Ford shared:
2027:
Launch of the new UEV (Universal Electric Vehicle) platform, starting with an electric pickup offering improved pricing, range, performance, and software capabilities.
2029:
Introduction of a new F-150 Lightning EREV, targeting 700+ miles of range.
Also in 2029:
New gas and hybrid vans, plus new “Built Ford Tough” pickup trucks, including a redesigned Super Duty with multiple powertrain options.
4. Battery Energy Storage – A new opportunity
Starting in 2027, Ford will also enter the commercial energy-storage market with 5-megawatt-hour battery systems designed for industrial and commercial customers.
