Variety Village receives fully accessible van to strengthen inclusive programs across Ontario

Variety Village, a Toronto-based accessibility and inclusion sport and recreation centre for people of all abilities, welcomed today the arrival of a fully accessible 11-passenger van donated through a partnership between Element Fleet and Adrian Steel. The new vehicle expands access to programs and services for children, youth, and adults with disabilities, both on-site and throughout Ontario.

The donation reflects a shared commitment from Element Fleet and Adrian Steel to increase accessibility and remove barriers. Speaking at the event, Michelle Way, Vice President, Element Fleet Essentials and Variety Village board member, highlighted the broader meaning of dependable transportation.

“Mobility is about dignity, opportunity, and belonging. When transportation is inclusive, places like Variety Village can reach more families, more athletes, and more neighborhoods, turning potential into progress.”

Upfitted to support a wide range of athletes’ needs, the van will enhance the organization’s ability to deliver programming in more places and to more people. It will help athletes travel to competitions, provide dependable support to families and enable staff and volunteers to bring equipment and programming directly into communities. For members and teams, it creates a unified way to travel that strengthens inclusion, connection, and shared experience.

As a Purpose-driven organization, Michelle Way emphasized Element’s commitment to giving back to the community and living our Value - We are always a force for good.

“Mobility is about far more than a ride,” added Michelle. “A reliable vehicle means a young athlete doesn’t miss practice, a parent gets a little relief, and a team gains another teammate. Those small moments add up to life-changing impact.”

“At Element, we believe that removing barriers to mobility is one meaningful way we can strengthen inclusion,” said Candace Allixendir, Vice President, Corporate Communications and Community Investment at Element Fleet. “This van isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a pathway to participation. It opens doors for athletes, families, and communities across Ontario, ensuring that more people have the opportunity to engage, belong, and thrive.”
